While I usually would never tell anyone not to buy a weapon; I would not suggest this as your first. Now I don't know your financial situation but besides the $1200+ price tag, the average cost of a round is expensive. I bought a 20 round box for $75 and that was some of the cheaper versions of the ammo. I have seen S&W 500 ammo cost EVEN MORE. She is a beauty though. You really? need to learn how to debate. I never said hunters are rednecks don't know what they are doing, & you arguments are just bad. I supported the scientific side (as S&W said in their website). Hunters prefer .460 over .500, mainly because of co-efficient. This means .460 will lose less energy over a longer distance, since its rounds are aerodynamic. .500 is better at closer (thus muzzle energy is retained). Go ahead & put down S&W, and rewrite calculus and physics dude.

You need to tell that to Smith & Wesson, since S&W got their data from Calculus and not from opinions of people like? you. The most powerful .500 S&W round 350grain@1975 ft/s, produces 3,031 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, where as the most powerful .460 XVR round 360grain@1900, generates 2885 ft-lbs. Their muzzle energies are derived from kE=1/2*M*(V^2) [divide by the constant 450434 for conversion]. .460 XVR therefore is the 2nd most powerful production handgun in the world.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to steal any glory from the .500, I just really crunch #'s when the bullet breaks crown and heads down range. S&W has the capital to media sensationalize their firearms. My fav is the .357Mag don't get me wrong I love all firearms but that caliber is well capable and then some on a human target, any hi'er in the mags and you get gross overkill. I trust my Taurus 608 4" w/ Hornady? 180 poly-XTP will have a bear hurt'n in 2 shots!!!

Cause you need to put a target hammer or something in. You need to drop your trigger pull weight down to 2-3 pounds. They come stock like 8-10 pounds. You can buy a target hammer and stuff? from Midway for like $30..

The stock came with the gun? when I bought it. On the Ruger website you can get the option of ordering a 10 22 with that stock. With a little digging online you can probably find one. PS. I belive the name of the stock is "Black Laminate"

right on dude, Love those 10 22's !!! but people are going to flam you big time, due to the fact? that, that wasn't bump firing. Maybe change the title of the vid. Be warned, people on youtube are HUGE assholes! :) also check out some bump firing vids or SKS rifles or AR's or even an M1 Garand... that'll give you a good idea of what bump firing is. take care.
